Franklin = Arveragus. Arveragus leaves his love Dorigen and goes to a knights challenge, while away Dorigen meets a handsome man named Aurelius. Dorigen tells Aurelius that she will love him with all her heart if he clears all the rock from america. He does and Dorigen tell her husband and he say that she should keep her word and not lie. Aurelius decides to be nice and call of the deal.

Miller = Nicholas. Nicholas tricks John into thinking that there is going to be a great flood again so john sleeps in the bath tube ready to float with the water. The flood doesnt come nicholas just lied to sleep with Alisoun. Alisoun and nicholas trick alot and nicholas pays for it in the end.

Wife of Bath = Wife. The wife goes through life marrying guy just for money and on her 5th husband she marries cause she loves him. “money is the root of all evil” All her first 4 husbands were older and rich, she didnt love them they were not controling. Her last husband was young and not so paid, she marries him for love, hes contoling.

Pardoner = The priest. The priest preaches about not being greed yet he tells a story that reflects his true thoughts. His story is about 3 men finding money, they send the youngest into town to get wine and bread to celebrate and he poisons 2 of them to kill the other 2 men. The other 2 men kill him to get a larger share of money, and then drink the poisoned wine and die meaning none of the men get money because they are greedy.

Last weeks performance was amazing. Two great stories was presented by two awesome groups. The first story of the week was The Franklns Tales. Thegroup did a great job. Landon, Elliot, Edward, and Greg really tought the class well. In my mind i think they did almost everything right except for a couple of things, one thing was the fact that early in the prestentation it seemed that the only person in the group that was really talking was Edward (he was on fire). The other thing that needed improvement was the fact that Landon left his group all alone to do the project (but good new is that he ended up winning his match by shooting 33 in 9 holes, word has it that he had 4 birded and and eagles, thats amazng). But other then those things i thing that group did a great job.

The second group was presented by Garrett, Ross, Caroline, and Robert. I think they did great. They had only a couple of things they could have improved on. They presented the Millers tale and did a great job doing it. One thing they could have improved on is there organization, in th middle of the presentation two of the group members started argueing over who would right stuff down on the board. The other thing i think they could have did better was the lenght of there presentation. If they would have taken the presentation another 10 to 15 minutes longer it would have been awesome. The last thing i would recommend is getting the class more involved in the activities. But other then that i think that group had alot of quality thughts. Good Job!!!

My group, Mr. Prom Queen, Edward, and Greg have decided to do a powerpoint that has courtly love, and complares other tales togeth, ETC. We are almost done with that, and we have already finish 4 character maps and a plot sequence map, we also have planed to make a rap song and video in which we will complete Momday after school. I am kind of suprised that our group is doing all this work, when i first saw that group i thought it was going to be just a big mess around group but we have been doing good work.

All week in class my fellow class mates that read franklins tale have been working on various things to help us with our project and with the understanding of the tale. Franklins tale is a tale about a young beautiful wemon named Dorigen, Dorigen gets married to a handsome man named Arveragius. soon into thier marriage Arveragius has to travel to britian to play in a knight challenage. While he is gone Dorigen weeps all the time and stays to herself locked up in her room all alone. Dorigens friends all try to make her happy by walking on the beach and having a picnic in the garden. Her friends then tale her to a dance thing to entertain her, there she meets a young handsome man name aurelius, secretly Aurelius is in love with her and begs for her love. She tells him that if she clears Brittney (America) of all the rocks she with then love him with all her heart. Aurelius then goes to a magician to ask if he could help him, and he does. Aurelius then goes back to dorigen and shows her. She then tells her husband what has happened and he tells her that he would rather live without her then to live with her telling a lie.

Throughout the week my group which consist of Elliot (Prom Queen), Edward, and Greg,  we have been working hard on a powerpoint that is all about or novel. Also we have been working on characterization maps and a plot sequence map. I think we are doing good work as of now and we hope to finish the powerpoint tomorrow in class.

I first found out about our homework from elliot, he called me and asked me if i have looked at how much reading we have to do, then he told me we have to read a grand total of 50 pages in one night. Later that night i remembered that 2 pages in the canterbury tales is equivalent to 1 page in a normal book, so we really only had to read 25 pages. At the beginning of Franklins tale i thought it was going to be exactly like the general prologue so i was not thrilled at all about it. As i continued reading i got into it more and more and i was really liking the direction the tale was heading. 

In franklins tale a story that is set in Brittany (America), where a young man of with the name Arviragus and Dorigen promise to give either other there hearts and all of it. One day Arviragus tells Dorigen that he is going to have to leave for Britain for a year or 2 for a great knight challenge. While Arviragus is gone to Britain Dorigen is very said and because of this stays home and cries and waits for her true love to come back home. Dorigen’s friends all try to cheer her up by bringing her to the beach and to a garden near by the have picnic, but it does not work. One day while Dorigen and her friends went out to a show and meet a man named Aurelius. Aurelius is in love with Dorigen and has been for a while, so he goes up to her and asks her to go on a date with him like and she says that she has a husband that she is happy with and that she is truly in love with. So to get him to go away she tells him that if he clears all of america of rocks then she will love him with all he heart. Aurelius goes to a magician and asks him to raise the sea 5 fathoms to get rid of all the rocks. The magician is able to do so and Aurelius then travels back to Dorigen and shows her what he has done. By that time Dorigen’s husband is already back and tells her that he would rather die then live life with her not following her word. So she is forced to love Aurelius.

I think there are plenty of different project ideas that someone could do with this like making the group act out that play in detail. Also one could do a powerpoint in which that group would maybe list the characters and there importance in the tale. Also you could go into detail on how this tale might reflect the narrator. another thing you could do is describe how the tale might have courtly romance or courtly love and what the difference is between them.

In class we went over 4 different topics that revolved around the 14th century such as; Geoffrey Chaucer, 14th century, mid evil, and middle english. Canterbury was writen in iambic contamider sometime between 1386 and 1400. It was and oral tradition that was left unfinished because Chaucer died in the middle of writing it. It was ment to have 30 pilgrams telling 4 stories each for a total of 120 stories each

My group was Chaucer so I am going to start off by tell yall all about chaucer and his life. Chaucer was born in London in 1328, and went o cambridge of Oxford. In 1386 Chaucer was elected to shire of kent, some of his famous book are Troilus and Criseyde, the book of dutchess, and canterbury tales. Chaucer came from a poetic family, his father and grandfather were both great poets, he was a member of the middle class. Goeffrey Chaucer died in London and was buried in westminster Abbey, and was remembered as the first great poet of the english nation.

Middle English is a really strange languege to me, first off it was the language of Chaucers time period. It was influenced by the french and the words didnt have s’s on the end of them, even if they were plural words, and there were N’s on the end of everything i think. The language has rythem and sentacts (which means theat the structure of the wrighting has an impact on the meaning). The wierdest thing i heard about he language was that every single letter in the word in pronounced.

14th Century was a time of change in my mind, In 1315 there was a famine, along with that the bubonic plague was around, people were unable to provide there family so a lot of the time you saw people eating there babys and children just to have food (the saying “only the strong survive” was exactly right). Over 20,000,000 people died because of the famine and the plague. There was a large movement in class also, because the poor would get land because the rich were dying. Also at this time there was a ton of bad weather so more poeple died because crops were getting flooded. Thomas Becket, the arch bishop of canterbury was assessinated in 1170. Also it was a time of warfare, which was said to create all men as equal, when going into battle you had to use your own weapons, and if you owed money to the governament, you would bring someone to battle with you to repay you debt. The holy roman empire fell.

in class we looked over the General prologue alot more and dicovered that the Canterbury tales was written differently then most books. In the Prologue Chaucer listed out all the charactor in the book starting with the knight and ending with the pardoner which shows the order of class in which they lay. In my mind Canterbury is a lot frankenstien because in both books (or novels whatever you want to call it) the narrator is telling a story inside of another story.

last week started pretty good, it was awesome, WE WATCHED A MOVIE. we watched monty python and the holy grial, it was pretty good and halerious, the only thing i didnt like was the fact that to movie was kind of wierd looking, idk how to explain it. the thing that pissed me off was the fact that to movie ended with the police coming…..i dont get it??? After the movie we worked on of charts a lttle. then mrs duke made like 3 different assignments for the class to do and everyone presented, it was a pretty good week!

There was once a young man who dreamed to become a night

Whos mother couldnt stand it so she tried to fight

but this young man was determed

to snatch his soon to be crown from hermend

he set off on his jouney with his eyes only on one thing

his goals were set and his focus was frighting

he traveled on foot to a castle to become a knight

he promised to fight with all his might

and on his journey he crosses a knight of red

that would shut up, for he wish he would have fled

he then traveled to another castle for a bed

instead he found his love lying there in red

On he would go leaving his love behind

soon the fisher king was his find

the fisher king and him talk tell they turn pail

and forgets to ask about the grail

Soon he meets a friend

and together there andventures begin

As they set out to find the grail

everything else goes to hail

Saturday night!!!!!! MARDI GRAS!!!!!! even though we didn’t win the game it still didn’t hold us back from partying. Tommy Richey my sister and 3 of here friends all went down to bourbon street to have a good time. We walked for hours enjoying the great sights. While my sister and her friends drank and had a good time. It was the best of times and the worst of times we saw some funny things and also saw some really nasty things.

Then after that we went to the parade and Tommy one of my sister’s friends and i got the great idea to throw beads back at the parade members. well we hit this guy so many time and so hard in the head that he got off the float and told the cops, so then I decided to start walk away and they followed me after a while the stopped me and asked to come with them and i did. while walking down the street i had 4 cops holding my arms and one other that was leading the way. they were talking to me and asking me question like why were you throwing bead, then they said that if i ran they would teaser  me. So they brought me back to the float and were about to arrest me and some random guy came up and told them that it was not me throwing the beads and they believed him, so i got off free!! i have never been so scared in my life.

This is the 3rd time for me writing it because it keeps getting deleted. Last Saturday we played Newman in the semi final and lost 3 to 1. At the beginning we walked out onto the field and sung the national anthem and then the game began. At the beginning of the game it was touch to do anything, Newman was playing way to good for us. Then Newman scored with 14 minutes left in the half when guy scogon had a free kick that went over Kevin’s hands and into the net.

Then Jordon took a free kick and the keep and i went up for the ball and it dropped on the ground next to us and James kicked it in. Then the half ended and everyone with feeling good and thinking that we could win the game, but 10 minutes into the second half Newman’s matt savior scored to give Newman a 2 1 lead. We fought hard to come back but couldn’t and with 5 minutes left Jeffrey Hampton score for Newman and the game was over.
